The best thing I did for chain maintenance was to wax my chains instead of using any lubricant. Even dry lubricant can leave a film that attracts dust/dirt on your drivetrain.

Best done when the chain is warm, and to do it often enough that dirt and grim don't collect. I would just be hesitant to spray it on the chain and rollers, as that would lead to something staying on those rollers.
